Scientific Programmer/Computational Scientist:

Nanostellar, Inc. has an immediate opening for a scientific programmer with strong knowledge in C/C++. Experience with other languages, such as SQL, Fortran, and scripting is also needed. We would give preference to candidates with a background in computational chemistry or chemical engineering. Experience in programming and using Monte Carlo, Molecular Dynamics, Kinetic Monte Carlo, Finite Element, and Finite Difference Equation methods is also higly desirable.

Nanostellar is a pre-IPO company located in Redwood City, CA. You would be part of the group of computational scientists working on leading edge research in nanoscience.

Transmission-Electron Microscopy Expert:

Position is immediately open for a TEM Expert in a nanotechnology start-up company focusing on developing new composite nanocatalysts.

Minimum qualification is a Ph.D. in Materials Science or associated disciplines with solid foundation and demonstrated experience in physical characterization of materials using a multitude of characterization methods.

The successful candidate should be able to fulfill the major part of the following requirements, whereof expert in TEM is an absolute requirement:

Expert: TEM
Experienced: SEM, XRD, XPS/ESCA, UV-Vis
Knowledge: FTIR, Raman, EXAFS, XANES, EELS

It is desirable for a candidate to have working experience in characterization of transition metal nano particles. A prior knowledge of automobile catalytic converter or fuel cell applications will be useful.

Computational Materials Scientist:

Position open for a Computational Materials Scientist in a nanotechnology start-up company focusing on multiscale modeling and simulations of new composite nanoparticle material in the catalyst application area.

We are searching for a Ph.D. in Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry or associated disciplines with solid foundation and demonstrated extensive experience of density-functional theory methods and molecular dynamics simulations as well as C++ programming is required. It is highly desirable for a candidate to have working experience in simulation of transition-metal nanoparticles. A prior knowledge of automobile catalytic converter or fuel cell applications will be useful. Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team of scientists are essential.

Salary will be commensurate with experience. Position open until filled.

Experimental Chemist:

Position is immediately open for an Experimental Chemist in a nanotechnology start-up company focusing on developing new composite nanoparticle material in the catalyst application area.

Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or associated disciplines with solid foundation and demonstrated experience in designing and developing metallic/inorganic composite material. It is highly desirable for a candidate to have working experience in colloidal synthesis and atomic characterization of Platinum or similar precious metal composites. A prior experience in catalytic functional performance verification of Platinum or other precious metal composite for automobile catalytic converter or fuel cell applications will be very useful.
